Reasons To Be Cheerful

It's Sunday again, so you know what that means!

We had a lovely afternoon today with family!  It's my sister's birthday tomorrow so we headed to the pub for a few drinks to celebrate!
I've been busy this week making and sorting out special gifts

The first was this BeAuTiFuL book - Tea with Bea (my sister's name is Rebecca and my children call her Auntie Bee, so when I saw this book I thought it was perfect!) Then using a recipe from the book I made up a little baking mix for the Ultimate Afternoon Scone.

My sister is a HuGe Jane Austen lover and whilst trawling the gorgeous Etsy I came across some heart pictures using pages from famous novels and thought I could do it myself, so I gave it a whirl and here it is.......................

Using pages from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice!

The gifts went down very well.

I also whipped up a cake! (any excuse!)

Using sweet strawberries,

and mini meringues, and a bit of pink edible sparkle!

Eton Mess Cake! Looking scrummy on a vintage square cakestand!
Recipe can be found here

Make a wish........................

Here is the birthday girl ( I hope she doesn't mind me posting her picture) with her blooming baby bump, enjoying her tea with bea book!

Happy Birthday Sis! Love you Lots!

A 2nd Year of Projects

Good Morning Ladies!
I hope your weekend has got off to a good start!
It is ExTrEmElY wet and cold here at the moment!
But my Sweet William are still bringing the kitchen so much needed colour!

Right, back to the post title! After being inspired by Carole and Shelley, I am joining the 2nd Year of Projects over on Ravelry
I have compiled my list of projects I'd like to achieve, most of them (but not all) are taken from Nicki Trench's gorgeous book, Cute and Easy Crochet.

I know it's only a small list but with two small kiddie winks I think this is more achievable for me!
Here's my list:
1. Beautiful Bunting - Nicki Trench pattern

2. Something using the gorgeous Ripple pattern from Nicki Trench

3. A shawl of some kind - I LoVe this one!
4. Rainbow Granny Stripe Scarf - using Lucy's pattern.  I've already started this one as I was in need of a colour injection this week!

5. Rose Shopper - Nicki Trench

6. A tea cosy - there are sooooo many stunning patterns out there I have yet to decide on one yet! But, I ReAlLy like this one!!

7. A Blanket - pattern undecided also :) but possibly using the african flower pattern - not sure if it's a tad ambitious though! :)

8. And finally my One a Day Granny Cushion Cover.

So there we have it!  I'm off to join the project now, and I'll keep you all updated on my progress!

Day Trippers

Good Morning Lovelies!  Hope this post finds you all well?

I have been wanting to visit the new Cath Kidston Outlet shop at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth for a while now.
Upon mentioning this to my In Laws, they kindly offered to take the children and myself on a little day trip.  So yesterday morning, as it was gloriously sunny,

we packed our bags and headed for Portsmouth!

This is the Spinneaker Tower, it has a viewing point at the top, with fabulous along the coastline.  We didn't head up there today, but if you visit Portsmouth it's well worth a trip up!

Lot's of wonderful boats in the Marina.  These are Spitfires from the 2nd World War

After a nosey around the lovely shops, and a visit to Cath Kidston, where I purchased a GoRgEoUs new oven glove, some pretty washi tape and a sweet green floral key fob (plus MIL got my birthday present in there too!! A BeAuTiFuL floral canvas handbag and matching purse!! Yay!! But have to wait til November to get it, which is ages away, I know, but well worth looking forward to!)

We headed off to the beach for a spot of lunch.

It was sooooo warm, which was a welcome change from the cold and grey of recent days!

We watched the hovercraft come and go!

We threw stones into the lovely blue waters

Toes were warmed!

A wonderful time was had by all!!

I do hope you all managed to get a glimpse of the sun yesterday too!

One a Day - Tuesday Tally

The lovely sunshine we had towards the end of last week and over the weekend has well and truly gone.  The hideous grey skies have returned!  Are we ever going to get a summer?

At least the garden is enjoying all this rain!

I bought some more beautiful Sweet Williams at the weekend

They are bring a WoNdErFuL burst of colour to all this greyness

My one a day project of a cushion cover/possibly blanket is coming along nicely!

I have completed another 6 squares

So now up to 24 in total.  Another two rows and the front of a cushion cover would be made, which is quite exciting :)

How are your WIPs coming along?

All Things Vintage and Some Reasons To Be Cheerful!

Where did the weekend go?
We've been quite busy so I didn't get round to posting my reasons to be cheerful yesterday so here they are, better late than never eh? :)

Saturday was especially busy for me as I officially started my new 'business' venture.  Soooooooooooooooo excited! I have started to rent a cabinet in the Antique Centre where my Mum works, and I will be selling all things vintage and handmade :)

Here are some snaps of my little cabinet

Hopefully the public will love my little bits and bobs and I'll be able to make a little bit of pocket money :)

The weather has been fine this weekend but it was very cold on Sunday.  We managed a little trip to the pond and swings on Sunday morning.  The little sweetpeas had a wonderful time!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend!
