One a Day

Just a quick post to update with the one a day

I've cheated a bit as I had some unexpected hooky time earlier in the week so I have completed 18 squares of my cushion cover (or will it become a blanket?) they are all joined using join as you go and half the ends are joined in too.  I'm quite methodical when I crochet and like to try and complete things as I go along.

So there we have it. Tuesdays Tally, 18 squares, done.

Sunny Sunday

We have been treated to more sunny skies today (do you think summer is really here?)

And the garden is starting to look really lovely and the pots are filling out!

We have an abundance of stunning deep red Pinks.  Their smell is heavenly and I just LoVe their teeny snipped edges - hence the name Pinks, after pinking shears!

So, it's Sunday and here are my pages of reasons to be cheerful!

Really loving jotting little snippets down in my little notebook! Plus a bit of doodling is always fun :)

Been having some wonderful hooky time this weekend, and I'm enjoying watching my cushion cover grow, although I love the colour combo sooooooo much I might turn it into a snugly blanket! Decisions decisions! What do you think?

Wanted to leave you with this sweet shot of the sun shining on my latest bargain find.  The most AdOrAbLe cottage butter dish.  Only 99p on Ebay!

Thank you too for all of your wonderfully kind comments on my lampshade. Ordered some more glue today so hopefully lamp number 2 will be complete by the end of the week.

Project Lampshade Ta-Dah!

Hello Ladies, hope you are all well?
I am just slightly, a little bit excited!  I have a little lampshade makeover ta-dah to show you!

Do you remember this GoRgEoUs, bargain ribbon? Of course you do!

Well after seeing this ruffle lampshade in my Sewing in No Time book,

I knew that the ribbon would be perfect for this speedy little project!

So, take one lovely, but a tad boring lampshade.......

And after a bit of stitching and pulling and ruffling and gluing..................

Ta Dah!

One pretty ruffled lampshade!  I'm quite impressed actually, doesn't look half bad :)

Here it is in it's home on the windowsill.  I have another one to finish, but would you believe it, I ran out of glue, doh!

Continuing with the crafty theme, also been sewing in some ends of my one a day crochet cushion cover.  LoVe the little pile of ends, like a pretty birds nest :)

I have completed a few squares, but have a confession - don't know if it classes as cheating but I had a bit of unexpected time to myself earlier (BOTH sweetpeas were asleep at the same time!!) so I whipped up a couple of squares. So now up to 6 all joined and ends sewn in with another 6 half complete.

Thank you for sharing your food loves with me on my previous post, I share some of your loves too :)

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

It's All About The Food

Good evening Lovelies, hope you're all having a fabulous Friday.  We had a bit of blue sky today but that soon disappeared and we were left with grey once again.  So to cheer us up I have a bit of a foodie post :)

First up cake. Now I LoVe cake and I think cake tastes even better when someone else makes it!
Popped over to see Mum today with the Little Sweetpeas and we were greeted with this beauty!

The most scrumptious looking Victoria Sponge I have seen!  Light golden sponge, oozing with sweet, sweet raspberry jam and fluffy vanilla scented buttercream.

All served up on pretty vintage plates!

Thank you Mum, it was divine! :)

Now it's on to pie, another love of mine.  This one is of the savoury variety.  I tweaked the recipe just a bit (tend to do that with most recipes) So may I present Chicken and Pancetta Pie

Love this photo with the sun shining through the window lighting up all the gorgeous layers of the puff pastry.

A little peek at the filling.  Chicken and pancetta with mustard and cream and parsley.  Mmmm. Perfect on a cold day (in June!!!)

What foods are you loving at the moment?

Here Comes The Sun!

Oh what a GlOrIoUs day we've had today, plenty of blue sky and sunshine!  But don't be fooled, Mr Rain is on his way! Boo!

Here is charity shop top #2 - very pretty with flowers and hummingbirds. From River Island.

Thank you all sooooooo much for you lovely comments on my last post, they were so encouraging.  So here is my second square (and joined on!) - I won't show you every square :) promise! next time you see this it will be Tuesday!

Here is my jar for the Jar of Love swap!! VeRy ExCiTeD!

Did some baking today! Not Gem's scrummy cake as I didn't have enough time but instead some Oatmeal Raisin cookies.

Have you spied the green underneath the cookies? You have?
Look, it's a BeAuTiFuL vintage faded floral cake stand. £3 from the lovely Ebay!

From the side.

I shall leave you with a few garden snaps.  Will all this sunny then rainy weather the plants are coming on a treat!

Managed to get some washing out! I do love the smell of laundry that's been drying outside!

Lovely green foliage on my Dogwood!

Oh so fragrant lavender by my front door.  The smell every time I come in or go out is amazing!

Close up.  Such dainty flowers.

And an arty one as the clouds moved in!

Hope you've all had a sunny one!

A(nother) New Project

I've not really had much direction when it comes to crocheting.  I seem to start projects then abandon them, experiment with patterns and then never do anything with them.
Perusing your lovely blogs I've noticed that most of you have lovely home furnishings - cushions, blankets etc. that are crocheted or handmade in some way.  Whether it's lack of time or lack of motivation I just don't tend to finish things, a bit of a procrastinator one might say!

So whilst blog stalking my Jar of Love partner I discovered she had joined this fabulous project.  The One A Day project.  Now this is something achievable for me.  Just ONE granny square a day until you complete the project.  Perfect.  So my project is to make some crochet cushion covers in white, pink and green to go in the living room.

Here is my first square!  I think I'm going to join as I go because as appealing as a little stack of granny squares is, that is all they are likely to be with me :) so if I join as I go I won't have to worry!

On a different note, I had a lovely afternoon yesterday charity shop shopping whilst my fabulous Mummy sat in the car with the little ones, who took shifts in napping.  I did feel soooo bad that she'd sat in the car for such a while but she insisted she didn't mind.  Love you Mum!

So some of my finds are for my up coming venture that I will let you all in on at the end of next week.  But I also picked up some lovely tops for a couple of pound each.  Here is the first.

A GoRgEoUs tomato red, silk effect blouse from The Gap.  Another tomorrow.

Jar Of Love Swap

When I saw this swap over at Katies lovely blog I knew I had to join.  Who can resist a GeRgEoUs jar, especially when it is filled to the brim with beautiful things!

The swap closed yesterday and we found out who our swap partners are.  I have been paired up with Shelley at All 4 Meggy Moo. This blog is new to me and I'm so glad I've found it! Shelley and I share similar interests, in particular crochet and baking!

I can't wait to get started now, filling up my jar with treats and treasures for Shelley and getting to know her better.  Shelley has also written a lovely post about the swap too so if you haven't already, make sure you pop over and say hello

Let the jar filling commence!
